What are Older Adult Meal Programs?

Older adult meal programs provide meals to older adults in group settings or for home delivery. When older adults cannot leave their homes or cannot personally prepare nutritious meals, home delivered meals are an available option.

How Does it Work?

Meals are served to older adults weekdays in over 390 sites across Illinois including senior centers, churches, senior housing facilities, and community buildings.

When older adults cannot leave their homes and cannot personally prepare nutritious meals, home delivered meals are an available option.

Income Requirement

No income requirement.

Age Requirement

Adults age 60 or older.

Citizenship Requirement

No citizenship requirement.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Home-delivered meal participants have a range of meal options including vegetarian, pureed, and kosher meals. Depending on the community, participants may receive one or two meals per day. Meals may be fresh or frozen. Participants may receive meals daily or a weekly delivery for multiples days of meals.

Medically tailored meals are available in some communities.
